Bobcats Begin New Era in Naperville

History was made at the Naperville Lacrosse Arena on Tuesday, July 1st, as the Naperville Bobcats took the floor for their franchise's inaugural game. The atmosphere was electric with excitement as the new team hosted the formidable defending champions, the Chicago Portagers, for their first-ever contest.

While the final score of 21-10 favored the visiting Portagers, the night was about more than just the result for the fledgling Bobcats.

From the opening face-off, it was a trial by fire for the new squad. The Bobcats showed signs of a team still learning to play together, and that feeling of needing to gel remained throughout the contest. Defensively, the Bobcats struggled to contain the high-powered Portagers offense, and they found it equally challenging to generate scoring opportunities in return.

Despite the tough result, there were several bright spots that provided a sense of hope and optimism for the future. The offense showed flashes of its potential, with a pair of goals each from #2 Will Clemens#12 Harrison Canaday, and #17 Sam Sanko. These performances offered a glimpse of the scoring talent the Bobcats will build around.

While not the outcome they hoped for, the inaugural game was a valuable learning experience. The Bobcats will look to shake off their first-game jitters, build on the positives, and grow as a unit as they embark on their first season in the Box Lacrosse League and American Lacrosse League.
