Milkmen Bounce Back After Tough Week
It was a week of highs and lows for the Madison Milkmen, who showcased their character and resilience by capping a difficult three-game stretch with a thrilling 18-17 victory over the rival Milwaukee Muskies on Sunday, July 20. Despite dropping two tough road contests to start the week, the Milkmen dug deep to secure a statement win in a high-stakes rivalry game.
The week began on the road with a hard-fought battle against the South Bend Shamrocks on Saturday, July 12. In a defensive struggle, the Milkmen fell just short in an 8-7 loss. #6 Gavin Williams led the offensive effort in that game with 3 goals and 1 assist. The following day, the team faced the Fort Wayne Rivermen, where fatigue from the back-to-back games appeared to be a factor in a 19-3 defeat.
While many teams might have faltered after two straight losses, the Milkmen returned with renewed focus for their showdown with the Muskies. In a spectacular offensive display, Madison gutted out a one-goal victory in a game that went down to the wire. The offense was firing on all cylinders, led by a trio of outstanding performances. Gavin Williams (#6) was instrumental, pouring in 5 goals and adding 2 assists. He was joined by Braeden Conwell (#70), who tallied 4 goals and 3 assists, and Zach Samson (#59), who was a crucial contributor with 3 goals and 3 assists of his own.
The character-building win provides a significant boost of momentum for Madison. The Milkmen will look to build on their success as they travel to Naperville for their next contest, where they will face off against the Naperville Bobcats.
