Portagers Drop Home Opener

The Chicago Portagers' winning streak came to an end this past Friday, July 26, as they were narrowly defeated by the Grand Rapids Grizzlies in a hard-fought home opener. Despite a valiant effort from a short-handed roster, the Portagers ultimately fell 12-11 at the Salt Creek Sports Center.

Playing without several key players, the Portagers battled to keep pace with the Grizzlies. The offense was powered by Connor Peterson (#98), who delivered an outstanding performance with four goals and an assist. Jaden Walcot (#71) also had a significant impact, contributing two goals and two assists, while Luca Dicarlo (#25) added a pair of goals. Patrick Walker (#77) chipped in with a goal and an assist, but the team's combined efforts were not quite enough to secure the victory.

The Portagers won't have to wait long for a chance at redemption. They are set to travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan, for a highly anticipated rematch against the Grizzlies on Saturday, August 2. The team will be looking to get their revenge and build momentum as they head into the latter part of the season.
